Christmas 2011
ByGenXBratThis year was much better than last. We got the Christmas lights put up on the patio…gorgeous if I do say so myself!
My son was healthy for the most part (coughing up a storm but we believe he’ll live… he’s gonna let me know if he feels that’s changing!).
Z got to relax and seemed very content with the fact that I made chicken and real mashed potatoes on top of putting together a huge pot of Posole.
And even though the day was quiet and none of us had bought any Christmas presents, it was a great day. …
Guess What I’m Doing This Saturday – Nope, It’s NOT Gonna Be Fun!
ByGenXBratIf you know what this is an x-ray of, you’re probably over the age of 50, know someone who is, or have possibly had colon issues.
I had a colonoscopy done in my late 20’s or early 30’s. I don’t remember a single thing I can list as fun! I do remember the doctor explaining to me how most people’s colons go up, across, and back down, but that there are a few select people (I’m a lucky one amongst them!) who have a colon that, instead of going straight across behind our hearts, it does this little loop-de-loop type thing. He said he’d really love to have a chance to do a study on it.
Talking to yourself just got a whole lot less weird…
ByGenXBratHey there… So I found out recently that there are people in this world who don’t have an inner dialogue… As in… no little voice in their head telling them what to do, arguing with their decisions, or randomly starting conversations about something that happened three weeks ago at 2am… I don’t understand this at…
The Line Between Keepsakes and Hoarding
ByGenXBratI’m in the process of “getting my life together”… as if that’s a surprise right?! The real question is, “What the hell does that mean!?”
For me, that entails quite a few different things. I want more room in my home which requires that I declutter, more time to focus on the things that matter which requires that I get this stuff done, and the peace of mind that when I die, my son knows what the hell is here which requires that I get organized! But I keep putting these things off because life is happening. But this is ABOUT my life so it’s time to get it together!
Cracking Open Raw Nuts Should be Easy
ByGenXBratI know it’s not Christmas yet but this crossed my mind last night when I reached for the raw pecans I have on the counter. You know the ones. The kind you buy at Christmas that come inside their shells. They’re usually mixed together in a great big bin that your mom keeps telling you to stop playing in.
Whenever mom brought these home, she’d put ’em in a big bowl and throw the nut cracker and picks into the bowl with the nuts so that we could actually get the shells off and eat them. As far as I knew, that was the only way to get to the good parts of the nuts.
Well I just got re-edu-macated last year by a short little Mexican lady that my sweetheart calls mom. …
