Unemployed… Again
ByGenXBratGot up this morning and was waiting for our boss to send us pickup information. Instead, we got a phone call that the company owner was going to shut the Phoenix terminal down.
He says it’s only for about 45 days. But he’s been telling us a ton of stuff since August when the terminal opened that he hasn’t followed thru on, so there’s really no reason to believe that’s going to change now.
Cracking Open Raw Nuts Should be Easy
ByGenXBratI know it’s not Christmas yet but this crossed my mind last night when I reached for the raw pecans I have on the counter. You know the ones. The kind you buy at Christmas that come inside their shells. They’re usually mixed together in a great big bin that your mom keeps telling you to stop playing in.
Whenever mom brought these home, she’d put ’em in a big bowl and throw the nut cracker and picks into the bowl with the nuts so that we could actually get the shells off and eat them. As far as I knew, that was the only way to get to the good parts of the nuts.
Well I just got re-edu-macated last year by a short little Mexican lady that my sweetheart calls mom. …
Budget BBQ – One of My Childhood Favorites
ByGenXBratMy mom used to make this when we were kids. And while she always told us, “I never said I could cook, I just said I could keep us from starving!”, this was always a great meal. And to think, it came about just because she needed to stretch her food budget… and a pound of ground beef!
Nowadays I make it with ground turkey, but that’s just a personal preference. But since it’s such a simple recipe (the best kind in my book!), I wanted to share it. It’s certainly nothing fancy, but it’s delicious, healthy, and can really help you out if you’re looking for great family meals on a budget.
